Every year, Antimicrobial Resistance (AMR) Week serves as a powerful reminder of the growing global threat posed by the misuse and overuse of antibiotics. In 2025, CPREC Nepal and the AMR Club of Kantipur came together in a meaningful collaboration to mark this important week through a “Walk & Talk” event—an initiative aimed at spreading awareness, encouraging conversations, and empowering young people to take action.
The Walk & Talk began with the shared goal of educating communities about AMR: what it is, why it matters, and how simple changes in behavior can help curb its spread. Participants gathered early in the morning, bringing along enthusiasm, curiosity, and a shared commitment to creating a healthier future.
Members from both CPREC Nepal and the AMR Club of Kantipur took part in leading discussions, distributing awareness materials, and engaging with passersby. The atmosphere was vibrant, with students and volunteers interacting openly about the dangers of antibiotic misuse and the importance of prevention.
As the group walked together, the event created a sense of solidarity—a reminder that meaningful change begins with small steps. Participants paused at several points to discuss real-life examples of AMR, global trends, and community-level actions that can safeguard public health. These open conversations made the initiative not just a walk but an engaging learning experience.
The event also served as a platform for youth leadership. Young participants confidently presented AMR facts, shared personal reflections, and encouraged responsible behavior. Their voices highlighted a powerful truth: the fight against antimicrobial resistance must include youth leadership at its core.
By the end of the event, the group had not only covered distance on foot but also made significant strides in raising awareness.
The collaboration between CPREC Nepal and the AMR Club of Kantipur showcased how partnerships between youth-led and community-focused organizations can mobilize meaningful action. Events like Walk & Talk remind us that addressing AMR requires collective effort, strong advocacy, and continuous education.
As AMR continues to threaten global health systems, the importance of sustained awareness activities cannot be overstated. This year’s Walk & Talk is only the beginning. Both CPREC Nepal and the AMR Club of Kantipur aim to continue fostering dialogue, organizing outreach efforts, and empowering youths to champion responsible antibiotic practices.
Together, each step taken and each conversation sparked contributes to a safer, healthier future—one where informed communities stand resilient against antimicrobial resistance.
